But it doesn’t matter.

Mild November nights in the New York fall have often been associated with Championships and superstars, but not often of the soccer variety. On November 15, 2015, the New York Cosmos; one of the world’s most iconic clubs, looked to change that.

It was fitting then, that a team so often known for trailblazing and fielding legends was to be the one that would offer a final send off for two iconic players of the modern era. One, a global legend that will go down as the player of a generation, and another that became so synonymous with his prior club that he had a stand named after him.

Two Eternal Captains, two legendary careers; one final game to seal a legacy.
And yet this is a day about more than just Raúl and Marcos Senna.

A soccer team fields eleven players at any one time.
A club employs dozens, if not hundreds of people.
A team has thousands, perhaps millions, of fans.

This is a story about success, about hard work, about celebration, about legacy.

For another night in New York, the Cosmos were kings.

I was lucky enough to have the Cosmos bring me out to experience the night first hand.
